A furnace training refresher course for maintenance staff and managers was held at SMHA’s DMD building on March 3, 2016. “The training was success,” stated HVAC technician Gary Tanksley. SMHA’s goal is to provide staff with hands-on-training and workforce development opportunities which, in turn, will provide residents with more efficient, quality service. Tanksley is confident that the training will be advantageous in that it will alleviate many of the obstacles faced by staff during their daily work schedule. “There is a process for working on furnaces and we hope to provide staff with valuable training opportunities to gain a better understanding of that process. We encourage any property managers, maintenance II and III workers, and custodians who are a part of the overtime crew to attend the next training,” Tanksley added. The next furnace training will be offered on March 16th and 17th beginning at 9:00 AM at the DMD building.
