Executive Director, Herman L. Hill, has completed all coursework and program requirements of the PHADA/Rutgers Executive Director Education Program (EDEP) certification. Through a joint partnership, PHADA, Rutgers University, and The State University of New Jersey offer an exciting new professional development opportunity for public housing executives who desire to stay current with industry standards and gain new insight into the     profession. The program consists of a series of ten courses designed to reinforce the technical, managerial, and strategic competencies required of a successful executive director: Executive Housing Management, Ethics, Financial Management, Legal Issues, Maintenance Management, Personnel Management, Procurement and Contract Management, PHAS/SEMAP, Planning for Change and Public Relations/ Communications.

SMHA’s Board of Commissioners appointed Herman L. Hill in February 2013 to serve as its executive director. Director Hill possesses over 12 years of public housing experience, earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration with a concentration in Public Management from Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, and holds additional certifications in the following areas: Public Housing Management, Hearing Officer, and Housing Choice Voucher Management.
