CANTON, OH —HUD RANKS STARK METROPOLITAN HOUSING AUTHORITY (SMHA) HIGH ON ITS SEMAP ASSESSMENT.

Herman Hill, Executive Director for the Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority (SMHA) announced that SMHA scored high marks on its Section-8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP). HUD recognized SMHA as a “High” performer scoring 130 out of the possible 135 points for a total rating of 96% for fiscal year ending March 31, 2016.

The Section-8 Management Assessment Program (SEMAP) allows HUD to better manage its Section-8 tenant-based programs by identifying Housing Authority capabilities and deficiencies related to the administration of the Section-8 program. Housing Authority are rated on 15 indicators. These indicators are carefully analyzed by HUD to determine the housing program enhancements that will aid SMHA and other Housing Authorities who shared a mission in providing safe, sound and sanitary housing for families in need.

Director Hill commends the hard work and dedication of SMHA staff in achieving such a milestone in this assessment process.
