General Purpose:
The Electrician will install and maintain the electrical wiring, fixtures, and systems in buildings, apartments, and single-family homes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The below statements are intended to describe the general nature and scope of the work being performed in this position. This is not a complete listing of all required responsibilities, duties, and/or skills. Other duties may be assigned.
- Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, and fixtures in buildings, apartments, and single-family homes.
- Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables.
- Ensures piping complies with electrical codes.
- Installs electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to the building.
- Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation.
- Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed.
- Install and Replace conduit and wiring.
- Install and Replace circuit breakers.
- Replaces outlets, GFCIs, switches (single pole and 3-way), ceiling fans, etc.
- Install lighting (standard, recessed, and fluorescent).
- Install light, switch, and outlet boxes.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Fish wiring behind walls and/or hidden areas.
- Able to run 120v and 220v wiring.
- Drill through brick, drywall, and wood.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to read blueprints.
- Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Education, Experience, and Certifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a formal apprenticeship and/or valid electrician’s license is required.
Computer Skills:
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be competent in the usage of, e-mail, internet, spreadsheet, smartphone, and word processing software.
- Must be able to learn other computer software programs as required such as housing management software, database, Xactimate, and Paycor.
Physical Requirements: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- Must be able to see color to discern color-coded wiring.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
Must Also Be Able To:
Move about the properties, ascending and descending stairs and ladders to meet with residents, and conduct physical inspections. While inspecting housing units and/or maintenance or contractor work, the employee may occasionally be required to position themselves to observe work completed under cabinets, sinks, crawlspaces, attics, or in high locations. The incumbent is also often required to maintain a stationary position, operate computers and other office equipment, move about the office, attend onsite and offsite meetings, and communicate. The employee must be able to accurately exchange information in person, in writing, and via e-mail and telephone. The employee must occasionally transport up to 50 pounds.
Working Conditions: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee may encounter while performing the essential functions of this job:
Office, residential property, and outdoor environment. Employees may be exposed to outdoor weather conditions. Employees may be exposed to a variety of situations that will require strong customer service skills. Employees may be exposed to construction site hazards, including asbestos and/or lead paint. Moderate noise level. The work of this position necessarily involves some exposure to a variety of environmental conditions including fumes, odors, dust, dirt, heat, etc. Exposure to unfavorable health and safety factors in working conditions may be present due to the type of mechanical equipment used and the variety of functions performed. The position requires normal attention to tasks being performed and moderate to heavy physical exertion necessitating full and unrestricted body movements and the use of all limbs and major muscle groups. This position requires the incumbent for frequent and/or prolonged periods to stand, bend, stoop, climb, crouch, reach, push/pull (up to approximately 100 lbs.) balance, lift (up to 50 lbs.), manipulate, and grasp. Normal vision (particularly at close range) is required since the incumbent must exercise hand/eye coordination to operate motorized tools, equipment, and vehicles
