Chartered in 2001 by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), the Stark
Metropolitan Housing Authority Federal Credit Union was organized to help
provide the residents of SMHA and its employees with sound and affordable
financial services and products. Besides the necessary products and services,
the credit union also provides an ongoing education program dealing with
personal finances.
The SMHA Federal Credit Union is locally owned and operated by the people that
make up our membership. Our goal is to create a sound financial institution
where you can save and borrow money safely, confidentially and at a fair rate
of interest. We are a not-for-profit financial cooperative and are insured by
the federal government.
Who May Join Our Credit Union?
Membership within the SMHA Federal Credit Union is open to any member of the
Stark Metropolitan Housing Authority Residents Association in Stark County,
Ohio (includes public housing and Section 8) employees of SMHA, employees of
the credit union, volunteers and members of your immediate family or household.
Membership is Easy
Membership in the SMHA Federal Credit Union is FREE. To become a member, simply
stop by our office and open a Share Savings Account. Your initial deposit of
$5.00 (minimum) into this account represents your "share" of ownership within
the credit union. As part-owner, you will have full access to the products and
services we offer, plus the possible opportunity to participate as a volunteer
on the Board of Directors or one of the many subcommittees.
