An application shall be considered active for one year from the date of
application or from the most recent annual update of application. You will also
be instructed to report any changes in income, family composition, or address
and to renew their applications on a regular basis. Once each year, applicants
will be sent a renewal letter to update their application. If the renewal letter
is not returned, the applicant's name will be withdrawn from the waiting list
and given an "inactive status".

Applicants who are unable to be employed due to a disability will be defined as
"employed" for this preference.
Q - What is the status of my application?
A - The processing period for a new application is currently three to five
months. You will be notified when a unit is available.
Q - How do I notify SMHA of changes in my phone number, address, family
composition and/or income?
A - You must submit all changes in writing within ten calendar days. Please
